Technology plays a fundamental role in the modern world of theatre. It's what makes productions a possibility. Someone who is very concerned with this new technology is someone who has a specialization in theater technology. Practically everything related to the scene is managed by the Theater Technicians. Whether it's something as simple as a curtain or a droplet that flies during a production or something as vast as a set that rotates mechanically, someone has to set it up or build it, maintain it, and operate it. It could also be lighting or sound work. Whatever it is, there's a lot of technology used in modern productions that wasn't even remotely invented when old historical shows were first introduced. And unfortunately, sets don't build themselves. And broken or damaged parts or components don't repair themselves. There has to be someone responsible for all of this, all while keeping the safety of the actors the utmost concern. Without Theater Technicians the theater would not be as safe, realistic and technologically advanced as it is today. Theater technology plays an extraordinarily important role in theater, as it allows older, “ancient” plays to be presented in new ways with modern technologies. Through the use of modern stage sets, automation, lighting and other modern theatrical working positions, the historical opera, The Barber of Seville, is brought to a whole new level. The Barber of Seville, or Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Italian, is a comic opera originally performed under the title Almaviva or Sia I'inaiuto at the Teatro Argentina in Rome on 20 February 1815 (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Britannica 1). It was not much appreciated when it was first produced as it was said to be a copy of Giovanni......half off paper......it would have been "made", through the use of the set, the drops and even costumes and makeup. This might explain why the sets were so enormous and the costumes so extravagant. Today, however, every aspect involved in a show has the same role in making the production as spectacular as possible. Through the use of modern set construction techniques, automation technology, modern lighting techniques and technologies and various other working positions involved in a modern theater, The Barber of Seville can be taken to a whole new level. By using all these tools, the audience is able to understand more clearly what is happening, which is ultimately the main point of any production. Modern technology has revolutionized the way theater is presented, allowing productions from centuries ago to continue to thrive and be fully embraced and accepted by audiences around the world.
