William Carlos Williams' passion and dedication to medicine can be seen through his literary contributions of short stories and poems. Doctor Stories use stream-of-consciousness interior monologue as a tool to reflect each narrator's experience and provide insight into the character and his or her assessment of each of the situations encountered. It is through this stream of consciousness that we come to understand the observational nature of this doctor's actions and thoughts. In the short story One Night in June, Williams details a feeling of restlessness when a baby needs to be delivered without the help of a doctor. a nurse or anesthetist despite having limited tools to operate with. Her thoughts portray hope that some patients would be better off if they gave birth in a hospital. He comments on how it's a better place with better tools, which demonstrates the idea that doctors are starting to think about the future of medicine and where it might be headed, from house calls to hospitals and doctor's offices. He was particularly attentive to the time of June 10 at 3.20, how, as he walked out, he shone a light on the calendar and noted the date as he passed. The girl with the pimply face shows the skills of a skilled observer of the world from the beginning, when the doctor noticed the discrimination through the phrase: “But they are foreigners and you know what they are like”, so the pharmacist explains the call to him . (p. 42) The narrator displays a lack of judgmental ideals, unlike the pharmacist who seemed rather dismissive, which perhaps caused the narrator to reserve all judgments. He doesn't look at the fifteen-year-old with normal suspicion, but instead shows a high level of respect for her. The narrator goes into detail about physics… halfway down the paper… not down because all that is considered is just psychiatry in the eyes of the staff. (p. 107) This narrator shows that there are reasons behind the boy's actions, and that a cure is actually possible, just by looking at his past and the events that led to his theft. The narrator does not see the boy's past as irrelevant as the staff does; he sees it as the boy's life. And thanks to this singular observation, he earns the respect of his father, who congratulates him and tells him to keep doing what he is doing. Williams is an exceptional writer and uses his skill to portray different situations where doctors analyze human conditions. through observation. Each story shows a different point of view. Each story arises from the observation of a single doctor and not many, so the opinions expressed depend solely on the writer.
