Actually of course People have been arguing about nature and nurture for centuries. Does genetics or growth have more effect on a person? Human development is influenced by various factors. But nature, genetics, contribute to development more than the environment. Although nurture has some influence, nature has much more. Genes are responsible for altruism, personality is linked to individual genes, and genetic disorders are effects of nature that can cause drastic differences in quality of life. Genetics determines human development more than the environment. Nature is what determines altruism, personality and genetic disorders. A lot of work and research has been done to support this, with various studies on each topic, such as altruism. Studies on the genetics of altruism suggest that altruism is natural, as demonstrated in chimpanzees, newborns, and twins. Theories of education argue that it comes from experience and is taught, but these studies show that responsibility is genetic, since altruism is innate. A discovery about impanzees, which have genes almost identical to humans, shows that they are naturally altruistic. Chimpanzees are not taught to behave altruistically at all, but they do it anyway. They help their human caretakers with deeds, and the unknown chimpanzees get their food without anything in return. The scientific team concluded that chimpanzee altruism is impulsive, not taught. Altruism is also present in human newborns. These children were not taught any social guidelines. However, they altruistically help other humans, for example by assisting them with tasks such as opening doors. This proves that the experience theory is wrong, since children have no experience learning to be altruistic. Finally, scientists working in twin studies also have… half the paper… pairings. Almost all people with Down syndrome have some type of serious impairment. Down syndrome is caused by an extra chromosome 21. It also causes physical problems, such as a deformed face, cardiac effects, hearing problems and mental retardation. Although the severity of the deficiency varies from person to person, it is always present (“Genes and Development”). All these things that contribute to development are determined by genetics. Altruism, personality and genetic disorders are all determined by nature. Studies show that altruism is innate, not learned. Genes have a confirmed correlation with personality. Finally, genetic disorders caused by nature have direct effects on quality of life. When considering how to predict development, people should always look to nature and genetics. Because when it comes to nature versus nurture, nature wins.
