Technology has changed a lot in the last two decades. Technology has improved the way we think, the way we learn, and the way we communicate with each other. There are many people who firmly believe that technology has done more harm than good to our society. However, the talk by Steven Pinker, an experimental psychologist, “Mind Over Mass Media,” and the talk by Amber Case, a cyborg anthropologist, “We are All Cyborgs Now,” both talk about how technology has benefited our society in many ways. Technology is constantly altering the way people live their lives, allowing them to live more honest and more comfortable lives. Technology allows us to have instant access to information. Having access to many sources of information allows humans to know much more about different topics; with this many people have no limits to what they can learn. Furthermore, today many people have quick access to any information, thus giving people the opportunity to know what is happening in the world and in their communities. As Steven Pinker said: “Far from making us stupid, these technologies are the only things that will keep us smart.” (Rose). Steve Pinker talks about how the access we have to information, when used correctly, allows us to have more knowledge and be smarter. All the information people get through technology helps them learn so much more in their fields. It also keeps people updated on their surroundings; especially with the people around them. Technology helps people around the world stay connected to our friends and family. With the help of technology people are able to share their past, improve their present and develop their future through the use of social media. Amber Case, Cyborg Anthropol... middle of paper... things. Technology has made the world we live in much better than before. As days go by, the world around us is constantly changing in a positive way thanks to technology. Will we have cell phones integrated into our bodies, will we have new advances in transportation, and will technology really make us smarter? These questions cannot be answered; but it is proven that technology will continue to change and greatly impact lives with each passing day. Technology will forever continue to make our lives much easier and more efficient. Case Cited Works, Amber. “We're all cyborgs now.” TED. Ted.com, 2010.Web.
