The continued rise of Big Data raises many concerns regarding the security and privacy of the data of individuals, companies and our society as a whole. Since the beginning of digital data storage, security breaches have occurred whereby attackers view, steal, modify, or delete data they should not have access to, and these breaches have increased in number and severity over time. Big data has become a very attractive target for attackers for obvious reasons. In the past, an attacker would target a specific user to steal their personal or financial information, but as public and private organizations began collecting and storing massive amounts of information from individuals, these attackers began to focus their own time and resources to breach the data stores of these organizations.
