“Democracy arises from the notion that those who are equal in every respect are equal in every respect; since men are equally free, they claim to be absolutely equal” (Aristotle). Democracy as a form of government creates a sense of equality among all members it governs. Democracy usually begins with an individual representing a community; the group of representatives that represents the State and the States represent the Country. Ultimately, democracy is the representation of the union of people's mutual interests, usually on a large scale. The process of institutionalizing democracy in a regime is not always the best way to govern a union of people, but it is not the worst compared to an authoritarian or communist state of government. There are several reasons why a regime would want incremental democracy. To understand why a regime would want incremental democracy, we must understand what democracy is. Unlike an authoritarian regime, where only a ruler administers what his people need, a democratic regime is built on representatives who make up a regime. These representatives represent a part of the community. A democratic state of government ensures that there is a sharing of power among many, rather than one ruling them all. Having power sharing within a regime might not seem like a big deal, but it can provide much more accurate analyzes of what is needed for the people. It also prevents a regime from abusing its problem for its own good. Democracy can only work well if there is a sufficiently large working class, or in other words, the middle class. Having a large working class makes democracy work because if there were no working class, the democratic regime would fall. This is…half of paper…it won't work in their society. Furthermore, causing a reversal of incremental democracy. Furthermore, this would slow down the transition to a democratic regime. Another problem with democracy is that local people are needed to participate in state government. If no one participated through collective action, such as voting or polls, democracy would fail. Democracy would fail because without knowledge of what needs to be solved or done, there would be no progress within society. This would cause instability within a democratic society and must be stable for incremental democracy to proceed. To combat the lack of participation within the democratic state, interest groups can influence people and motivate participation to bring about change. Furthermore, democracy has its flaws, but there are situations where it fails.
