I serve no master; I'm ChaosWorks listed as missing Let's be blunt; you, professor, want to know who the person who writes my essays is. To be more clear, you want to know what is the difference between Bill, the person who writes the essays for your class, and the other Bill, who is son, friend, brother, criminal cohort, and what other title is given to him for me. You are the one who wants to know the voice behind this black ink and white paper, or the electrons if you read it from a computer screen. You suggested that I, as well as the rest of the class, start with our first article. I would prefer to start with the second article. Remember my second article? It is to write beyond the topic. Oh, wait, about twenty other students have written similar papers. I'll be more specific; I wrote a narrative story about a Dungeons and Dragons game. In it I wrote about a third-person incident in which the protagonist is slowly replaced by a fictional character he plays in an RPG. I was trying to show how it was impossible to escape what professors want from student assignments. The game master, Chris, was my metaphor for the professor. As a GM, he expects me, as a player, to suppress whatever is happening in my life and do what is asked of me as a player. In a similar sense, this is exactly what teachers want in one of my articles; to write down exactly what is required of me to meet their expectations. This was the original point of my article. However, I became a victim of what I was trying to overcome. I turned in the assignment and the teacher (that's you, Mike) didn't like it. I had to rewrite it within a week or I would not receive credit for the assignment. With the gun loaded and pointed at my head, I rewrote the paper. I edited my original point in the paper, changed the format, and added a new point about breaking the rules of writing. I received a B+. Even in trying to escape normal expectations, I failed. So who was the voice that wrote that paper? It was my first time, but it wasn't my second time. The first document was me. It was based on a true event.
