Recently, Obama proposed a program that says, "We expect all of our children to not only graduate from high school, but to graduate from college and get good-paying jobs" all students will earn a four-year degree is not a plausible suggestion. Without a doubt, it is certainly not necessary for all students to earn a four-year degree because there are alternatives that make it easier for a student to get a well-paying job. Smart students may or may not need a college degree to achieve success. Even a two-year diploma is enough to earn money or achieve success. If we analyze the mindset of an intelligent student, he tends to focus on a particular topic of interest which he finds most intriguing. This results in less focus on other topics. An intelligent student may not be able to focus on other subjects leading to failure and may not want to complete a four-year degree. He would rather focus on his topic of interest and master it. Consider a real life example, Bill Gates, was a college dropout, he was so focused on the concept of operating system that he decided not to study anything other than that. He is successful even though he has not completed a four-year degree. Will a four-year degree make a student successful? Not necessarily. Will a four-year degree make a student rich? No. Success is different for each individual; some consider becoming a millionaire to be a success. Success can have any degree of accomplishment. For some students, becoming famous is a success. A four-year degree does not guarantee success. A four-year degree will not make a student rich or famous. It depends on how passionate the student is about a par...... middle of paper ......piness, whether he likes the work or not. Finally, I will conclude that every student should not get a four year degree because every student is different and their unique skills that they can apply to alternative fields will lead them to success and the one year degree will not. Students should consider their interests and think about it before opting for a four-year degree because it may result in a waste of time and money. Choosing a four-year college degree is as critical as your marriage decision—what you choose now impacts your future. Wealthy parents may not bother spending money on a four-year college degree even if their child isn't successful. However, poor parents would be affected if their child did not succeed. So, it's not about getting a four year degree, but success is more important, after all a student wants to achieve something in life.
