There's something undeniably special about Christmas. From the abundance of peppermint to the Island of Lost Toys, this season can give even the baddest Scrooge a jump. Who could object to installing red and green lights, or choosing the perfect, pruned, green tree? Meanwhile, creamy eggnog sprinkled with graham cracker flakes and nutmeg returns to a standing ovation after Thanksgiving. I remember writing letters addressed to the North Pole, made credible with the “-E” backwards. The bad taste of glue lingered on my tongue as I joyfully rushed into the freezing wonderland to personally deliver my message to the postman, ensuring safe delivery. Watching endless Christmas specials, constantly vacuuming pine needles from the carpet, and writing wish lists are just a few of the activities that fill these days with festive cheer. The best memories are the happy music, the early snowfall and the benevolent spirits. For starters, you can always count on the familiar sound of those classic Christmas tunes. They have a way of sparking happy memories. For example, every time I listen to Grandma Got Hit by a Reindeer, I think of watching Christmas movies next to my little brother, cute and cozy in a pair of worn-out fuzzy pink pajamas. Then there's Jingle Bell Rock, whose upbeat cadence takes me back to my grandmother's living room as she opens a Hannah Montana musical Christmas card. It's always a pleasure to remember pieces of the past, because childhood is always fleeting. Plus, when there's music, there's always a reason to sing. Carols, a common Christmas pastime, have been on my wish list for a while now. I can only imagine the satisfaction of visiting old homes, gr...... middle of paper ......nt box full of packing peanuts, the gift hidden at the bottom, or organizing a photo scavenger hunt, sending the beneficiary around the neighborhood and back before the inauguration. This is why giving is more satisfying than receiving. There are no guarantees in life. One day everything is fine and the next, global warming is taking over, and the winter wonderland that once held us so dear is nothing more than a pool of memories. We simply cannot afford to put things off again and again. This Christmas we must find in our hearts the will to make a difference, to give someone a reason to smile, because in the end, nothing else really matters. And in the meantime, stop worrying about the future, so there will still be some time to enjoy the music and sing your heart out. Don't miss the little pleasures in life, because those are the things we remember.
