The main pages you fill in as you walk should include columns (at least six) in which you will record the following items: - Details of identified fire risk. - People who are affected by the fire risk - The existing controls used to minimize the danger - What further activities are needed to reduce or eliminate the risk - A label indicating the urgency (a simple key can work) - A space for the signature at the end of the activity It is a wise idea to have a space at the bottom of the structure for the evaluator's comments Once these steps are completed, you will have the evaluation ready. However, depending on the results, you will find out whether the procedure is finished until further notice or whether you have indicated some recommendations to be followed. Recommendations might include changing fire extinguishers, training staff, developing crisis plans, and so on. The law states that it is necessary to appoint one or more "competent persons" to carry out the indicated actions after the assessment. You may well be the competent person, but you must first have (to quote the law) "adequate training, knowledge and experience" to complete what you are asking of him.
