Anything can be achieved in life as long as the commitment undertaken is faced with determination and perseverance. There have been countless testimonies to this effect and my personal experience is living proof of the veracity of this statement. Moving to a higher level of education, as described by Bridges, is a very difficult transition to make. Family obligations and work push me to remain in an inert state of thought; I was convinced that too many responsibilities and lack of time would not allow me to accomplish what I needed to accomplish to progress. Today according to the Bridges Model, I am in the final stage or “new beginning” (Bais and Hayes, 2011, p.5) because I have found the courage to overcome that way of thinking. I am aware that returning to school will be accompanied by stress and anxiety. However, I am also aware that my decision may encourage others to overcome the fear of returning to school. I can help my peers or leave behind the “old way of thinking and behaving” (Bais and Hayes, 2011, p.5). Strategies that have helped me in this transition, as Spencer and Adam describe, have been finding a mentor who can provide support when needed and accepting help from family members when in doubt or overwhelm. My Roles in the Nursing Profession My transition into the nursing profession has been a major achievement because I am able to use my acquired skills to contribute to the community. As a bedside nurse and staff member at a large medical facility, I have had to learn how to provide care to a very diverse population. For this treatment to be effective, I must take on the role of counselor, therapist, educator, advocate, and most importantly, interpersonal facilitator. As a consultant... middle of the paper... practice collaboratively as some states require the nurse practitioner to do. Family physicians can continue their practice by becoming members in many different subjects. Their focus is primarily on adult patients who can receive dual training and become pediatric in a four-year period. A family doctor sees anyone who has any type of problem but is more knowledgeable about common problems. Its goal is to treat the person as a whole.
