A mother with a low-paying job, two kids, and a wonderful husband picked up her son from the after-school babysitter's house on a beautiful sunny day after a long day at work. Her son bounced up and down like a ball of joy as he explained his day at school to his mother as they walked to her 1989 Dodge mini-van to go home. During the drive, the scent of harvested wheat fields and the noise of people hurriedly passing by on their way home to see their families drowned out the sound of worn speakers as they played a collection of songs from the late '90s. That enticing smell was soon overtaken by the unexpected stench of gasoline that suffocated the woman and her son as they entered the house. The boy went up the stairs as his mother had told him, while she went into the garage to see where that unpleasant smell was coming from. The boy waited impatiently at the top of the stairs to see what the smell was, when suddenly a terrifying scream echoed through the house. He quickly rushed upstairs, picked up the boy and headed towards the courtyard. The boy, stunned by the sudden scream, began to ask his mother what was happening, but was immediately interrupted by the sound of sirens blaring over the rooftops of their suburban neighborhood. His mother then told him that everything would be fine and that he didn't have to worry about anything. Later that evening, a police officer approached the boy and uttered the words that would stay in his head for the rest of his life. He said, "Son, you're the man of the house now." The boy didn't know what to think, he just knew that it was around the time his father normally came home from work, so he ran downstairs and waited for his father... middle of paper. .....I believe the company has fallen so deep into their wallets that the idea of helping others succeed like they have is just too much to ask. But is it that difficult? Open your eyes and next time you are asked, do everyone a favor and set an example by being a person who actually saves some change. Works Cited1.
