My interest in pursuing a school administrator position for an elementary school system is to provide leadership to staff members and a quality education for all students and to become part of the world of 'instruction. Benjamin Franklin School, located in the Dallas School District, serves a growing population of approximately 1,070 students. The school offers a well-defined education system for students and has an overall student-teacher ratio of 17:1. In addition to state curriculum standards, the school offers special education programs and courses for the gifted and talented. As a result of the school district's ranking in terms of student achievement, Benjamin Franklin School became the worst in the district, which caused stereotypes among teachers and students. Building on strategic planning efforts to ensure that the school fosters an atmosphere in which everyone is respected, I would like to work to create a positive environment in which students feel valued and supported by their teacher. I will evaluate data to measure student learning and improve leadership skills that value every student at Benjamin Franklin School to increase achievement. Progress towards the goal will result in improved performance ratings. While I focus on the many challenges of becoming an administrator, I need to focus on classroom management and improving student motivation to learn. I will be applying for a full-time teaching position so that I can fully prepare. I am currently working with exceptional adult students at all levels and will continue to pursue a teaching position at Benjamin Franklin Elementary School as a full-time teacher. As a long-term plan for professional growth for staff members at St...... middle of the paper ......ke a difference in a student's achievement (Council for Educational Development and Research, 1997 ). It is my responsibility as an administrator to maintain the physical aspects of a school and reflect the vision of reform. My duties will range from being an effective administrator to listening to what teachers, staff and students say, taking stock of the school's culture, and using feedback to grow professionally and academically to be more effective.
