Topic > contradicting the fact that a large portion of the American citizenry remains without health insurance. This means that average Americans, who number in the millions, are finding it increasingly difficult to access healthcare of any kind. As a result, this disadvantage has led to the proliferation of diseases and deaths that could have been avoided. Perhaps it is better to ask ourselves why access to affordable healthcare has not been made a priority by previous administrative regimes, since it is the core of well-being and fundamentally the backbone of a healthy, working nation. The answer should have happened sooner, rather than later, but it seems, Americans had to settle for agitating for this critical need, and in March 2010, their efforts were rewarded with President Barrack's signing of the law Obama, of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), better known as the Obama Care Act (The White House, 2014). In summary, the PPACA Act, considered groundbreaking legislation, would extend comprehensive, affordable, quality insurance coverage to many Americans. The purpose of this research paper is to discuss the advantages, disadvantages, and inherent effects of the Affordable Care Act in order to determine, from current and past literature, whether or not the act should undergo reform. Summary of the PPACA ActIn order to effectively understand, analyze, and present the arguments for and against the Affordable Care Act, it is critically important to emphatically define and summarize the act and whatever content it entails.
