These images have to do with the assault that the narrator claims God perpetrated against the victim of this lynching. The narrator states that “you (God) drove your nails into his ribs” and “pierced your knives into his chest” (Yehoash 107 lines 24-26). These lines discuss the victim's body as if it had been violated by God and the damage caused to the body was a result of God's actions. This is a very controversial statement made by the author as he uses these images to parallel a crucifixion and blame a higher power. The textual echo went from describing an anonymous body in danger, to explaining that damage led to death, to finally finding someone to blame for that death.
