This has been quite an inspiring last and final semester here at RICE. I'm happy that the next journey has already begun and I'm extremely grateful for what I've absorbed. For this reflection I will focus on three main points or themes. I was fortunate to gain two different perspectives on the ins and outs of missionary work from two great teachers. Both perspectives helped shape my experience and redirect my thinking on the topic. Although there are many things to think about, the points I would like to address focus on a few points. 1) Greater gratitude for the work of missionaries, 2) the illusion regarding the involvement of African Americans in early missionary work, 3) the need for a continuous and active presence on the missionary field. Over the past few months, while I have been on this mission course I have come to understand the hard work and sacrifice made by the people involved in mission work.
