Topic > The chorus in Sophocles' Oedipus Rex - 727

While on the way the chorus intervenes once again to express their feelings. They begin to wonder why of all people this had to happen to him. Through questions they become curious about different things regarding the situation. But seeing the image before their eyes they fear acting on that curiosity (Sophocles 499). The groups of people serve as companions on his dark and terrible journey into exile for the last time. The irony of the situation was that all along Oedipus was the one who was blind to everything and not the blind prophet Tiresias. In conclusion, the chorus was very necessary in the play Oedipus the King. It served as the main gateway into citizens' feelings about the issues. Even though the chorus was subtle in the show, it played an important role. I think stories should include something like concessions. It can bring a better view of history from someone who witnesses it all
