Topic > Curfews Keep Teens Out of Trouble - 1912

When parents think about keeping teens out of trouble, the first thing that probably comes to mind is curfews. It is a very controversial topic that people argue about. Some of them believe it works while others say it makes no difference. Teenagers crave independence. They rebel against the curfew because they think they are old enough to make their own decisions. They are willing to have as much freedom as possible. While trouble can happen at any time, teens are more likely to get into trouble at night, because the later they go out, the more they are exposed to people under the influence of drugs or alcohol, wild partying, and violence. Curfew is required. People who say curfews make no difference believe that teenagers can get into trouble at any time, with or without curfew, and that nothing can stop them from doing what they want. However, the purpose of the curfew is not to keep teenagers one hundred percent out of trouble. The aim of the curfew is to reduce the risk of them getting into trouble, protect them from harm late at night and keep them as safe as possible. Therefore the curfew serves important purposes. It is an appropriate way to monitor adolescents' activities, prevent them from making life-threatening decisions related to peer pressure, ensure that they get adequate sleep and rest at night, and support them emotionally. Monitoring teenagers' activities is one of the most important things parents need to do. As children begin to reach adolescence, it becomes increasingly difficult to control their behavior and actions. Establishing curfews can save teenagers' lives from dangers such as alcohol-related accidents. Adolescent alcohol use is a serious public health problem... the focus of the paper... communication with them. Nothing can hurt parents more than knowing that their children are in trouble and pain. They are the only people who would do anything to keep their children safe and out of trouble. When they set curfews it is absolutely reasonable and right to do so, to protect their stubborn kids. If given absolute freedom, without supervision most adolescents will end up making fatal and life-threatening decisions. It is really difficult to control teenagers, as they rebel, protest and complain against the curfew, but they need limits, boundaries and control. Curfews are necessary and serve extremely important purposes. It is an important part of a child's growth. It is a parent's obligation to keep their children out of trouble as much as possible and ensure that they have a safe and stable environment in which to grow into responsible adults..
