World War II: a broad span of six years of barbarism, brutality and savagery. This war surpassed the death toll of World War I, with over 72 million civilian deaths. During this considerable period of time, human lives were not the only loss of citizens. Those who were still alive lived deprived of their identity, their family and their rights. The Rape of Nanjing, national invasions and bombings are all well known and prime examples of some of these human rights violations. However, there is also another case where it applies, namely that of comfort women. The Second World War was a tragic period of brutality and violence which saw many lives lost and many human rights violated; however the Japanese's use of "comfort women" not only violated their rights, but continues to be controversial today. Comfort women were women forced into prostitution corps, created by Japan during World War II.
