Unintended pregnancy continues to be a growing topic in the United States. There are many young women and men who are facing unwanted pregnancies. Many have to decide whether to continue the pregnancy or terminate it. The most common method used to terminate an unintended pregnancy is abortion. However, many women and especially teenagers are unaware of another method used to prevent unwanted pregnancy called emergency contraception (EC). This paper will explore views on unintended pregnancy, EC, emergency contraception and anti-emergency contraception. There are many women of childbearing age who have become pregnant unintentionally in the United States. As a result, many have developed a sexually transmitted disease (STD). This may have occurred due to unprotected sex, improper use of contraceptives, failed contraception, or sexual assault. Rates of unwanted pregnancies are high and occur in all age groups.
