In the year 3,000 BC man showed his first interest in chemistry. The first known person was a woman who created perfumes with different substances. During this period chemistry was more of an art than a substance. In the next paragraph I will tell you what society was like before technology was added to Chemistry. What chemically natural resources have limited and advanced the process of adding technology to chemistry. How the addition of technology has affected our society. And how I think it will affect the future of Chemistry. Chemistry before technology was known as alchemy. Alchemy is the medieval ancestor of chemistry, based on the presumed transformation of matter. According to the New York Times article “The Magical Origins of Modern Chemistry,” alchemy was a philosophy and practice that sought to understand the nature of matter. Thanks to the alchemist they were able to produce porcelain, pigments, perfumes, gunpowder and pharmaceutical products. Before technology was introduced into chemistry, it took scientists longer to discover certain chemical objects and compounds, and it took them longer to figure out how to do certain things. Before telephones and computers existed, scientists and chemists could not share their data with others in the hope of gaining more knowledge and ideas about how to make chemical reactions work. Many chemical reactions and medical advances arise from things that already exist in the natural world. Technology only improved what they could combine and make from something that already existed. Natural resources may also have caused a delay in combining some chemicals because they didn't have what they needed to make or combine chemicals. Even today we still have problems finding drugs... middle of paper... there is part of the history of chemistry and medical research that could be advanced with the help of technology and society. As long as things are going in a positive direction, we have the possibility of a very bright future. I hope this essay has advanced your understanding of how much we have evolved from ancient times to today, but also shown you some things that our society has done wrong with technology by not engaging in what I believe is where they needed to be . What we need to be aware of when dealing with resource limitations but also the progress that could be made. What chemistry and technology have done to our society today. And also what I believe is right and wrong about the way technology is going to go in the future and also the right approaches that needed to be taken to help our society and also chemists.
