Topic > Women in America - 1203

Americans are multicultural and descend from multiple geographic, ethnic and racial backgrounds. The original American colonies formed during the 17th and 18th centuries with unequal gender ratios. Gender equality did not exist until education had a major impact because people needed a citizenry that was educated and capable of self-government. The first British settlers immigrated to the New World to escape religious persecution and for economic opportunity. It was a chance for them to live as they wanted without anyone interfering, a chance for a better life. Basically Europeans immigrated to America for better opportunities. While some unions were the result of mixed marriages or consensual relationships. There was also widespread sexual exploitation of black women by white slave owners. Ancestry influences identities, but its impact is facilitated by a number of factors including ethnic fusion, awareness and retention of knowledge about ancestral roots, fundamental beliefs about race and racial divisions, and the number of generations not involved by the arrival of immigrant ancestors. The definition of “American” has expanded and become more inclusive over the past two centuries as women are a distinctly classified identity that has evolved through historical patterns. Women became inclusive when the Constitution was ratified. The 15th Amendment gave all men the right to vote but not women until the 19th Amendment in 1920. Free women were citizens, but their rights in property, voting and other matters were limited. The United States itself called itself "American" as the people living in America are able to shape the environment and transform lives. In the cities,... in the middle of the paper... in the good old days of "Normalzia". This had caused a culture of consumption as the economy began to expand. President Calvin Coolidge summed up everything that was happening this way: “American business is business.” Without America creating opportunities for the economy to expand we would never have gotten to where we are today. Women and the new morality are bringing together the social issues related to domesticity that had assigned women primary responsibilities in matters of home and household management, raising children, supporting the husband in his career. Women now voted in every state. The expansion of business throughout history has resulted in the growth not only of governance, but also of morality. The modern idea that people of all races and religions are morally equal is often taken for granted, but viewed in comparison to the past. The continued involvement of women's rights created a new, modern America.
