Every day I directly deal with patients who were sick and in need. From answering a light call to comforting a patient as they experience their final minutes, I constantly kept reassuring myself: this was my passion. I have experienced the ups and downs of nursing. I worked long, hard night shifts. I have seen and experienced what nursing really is and what satisfaction it can bring to your life. Today, I am confident in my desire to further my education and become a registered nurse at Seattle University. Working in the field in the hospital gave me a lot of satisfaction; I learned new terminology and skills from nurses, which reassured me that I want to go further. I want to gain the knowledge and be able to help patients in an even more in-depth way. Even though I have a long journey ahead of me, I am already eager and excited to serve my community in the nursing field. Nursing is a profession where you are making a difference. I have learned that healthcare is not just about medicine but also an opportunity to comfort, listen and lend a hand. This means looking beyond the patient's age, race, religion, ethnicity or economic status, but instead focusing on their well-being.
