Topic > Globalization: Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM)

Literature Review In recent decades, environmentalists have become increasingly concerned about the green concern. (Toke, Gupta and Dandekar, 2012) Furthermore, the increase in deterioration of the environment such as global warming, acid rain, use of toxic substances, decrease in unreplenished resources, depletion of raw materials, Overflowing waste landfills and pollution in general have gained awareness from people all over the world. (Mutingi, 2013; Toke et al, 2012; Kumar and Chandrakar, 2012) Globalization is one of the factors causing the increase in environmental deterioration. (Gardas and Narkhede, 2013) It has also been found that environmental pollution is related to the development of industry and increase in waste or emissions based on environmental concern in recent decades. (Singhal, 2013; Shakti; Kumar and Chandrakar, 2012) As globalization and industrial development cause the occurrence of environmental problems, they have pushed companies to use Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM). (Mutingi, 2013) GSCM can create a sustainable supply chain because the entire process of producing a product will not harm the environment. The input uses environmentally friendly raw materials and the output can be reused or recycled. (Patrick, 2010, as cited in Gardas and Narkhede, 2013) In addition to this, GSCM has also defined to involve activities such as green procurement, green manufacturing, green distribution and reverse logistics. (Shakti) It can be said that companies need to go green because of various agencies, there are government, customer, competitor and stakeholder. (Jasti, Sharma, & Kodali, 2012) Furthermore, the reason why companies use GSCM is that it can help companies achieve win-win outcomes… middle of the paper… assembling components. Therefore, the tolerance allocation model is a method that can be used to help the electronics industry apply green principles. This model can be used in the product design phase and mathematical calculation (algorithms) is used in this model. In fact, this model considers how the electronic product can be disassembled and recycled before combining the assembly components to form an electronic product. Since the electronic product is made up of various assembly products, it is necessary to prepare a design dimension and tolerance to specify which assembly components are used to form an electronic product and ensure that the final electronic product can work. The different tolerance level may make the cost different. It is the way that can enable the electronics industry manufacturer to calculate the cost. (Huang and Tseng, 2010)
