Alacrity is more focused on the negative aspect of the commandments, the opposite of what vigilance is focused on. Alacrity implies “speed in the approach to a mitzvah and its rapid consummation” (Author 37). To achieve Alacrity, one must be quick in completing a Mitzvah; you cannot hesitate when completing a mitzvah. Not only must someone be quick to complete the mitzvah, but they must do so with the mindset that they may not have the opportunity to do so later. The most important lesson that can be learned from the chapters on Alacrity is not to procrastinate. If every student could reach Alacrity, they would turn in their homework faster and receive high grades. But, as we all know, especially you Rabbi, many teenagers do this
