So here we are on our next adventure. A man, a woman, a teenager, two dogs, a trailer and a trailer; set up house in the woods. Twenty acres of rolling woods, composed of hardwood and softwood trees, unfenced and with no immediate neighbors other than the reigning wildlife. This was our little piece of rural paradise hidden from everyone, a blank canvas on which to create anything we wanted. Living the “good life,” from our perspective and on a practical level, meant aspiring to live a simpler existence. To fulfill another one of our bucket list items, we wanted to make a version of “The Good Life,” inspired by the 1970s British sitcom of the same name. "The Good Life", for those who are not familiar with television. origins, centered on a suburban couple, Tom and Barbara Good, played by Felicity Kendall and Richard Briers. They abandoned traditional suburban life when Tom turned forty and decided to quit his conformist office job as a draftsman. They embarked on a mission to achieve a simple yet self-sustainable lifestyle, despite living in the suburbs. To achieve this goal they transformed their conventional gardens into allotments, growing fruits and vegetables to eat and barter for. They also purchased livestock, including chickens, pigs and a goat, much to the disgust of their neighbors. Over the years in the UK, in the various places we had lived, we had dabbled in growing vegetables and keeping chickens, whilst also running a farm. large family and full time job. However, we had never really considered it in the context of being, in some way, self-sufficient; it was more of a hobby. This time, we were looking for a healthier and more self-sufficient lifestyle... mid-paper... we in December, for the wedding, obtained his security license in the UK .After a couple of months, we started having problems with renting our house in Ipswich. We decided that we would continue no further and that, having created a beautiful family home, we had the perfect opportunity to have two properties that we could live between. This would give us the best of all worlds, city and country living. We decided that we could wait to work out the logistics of that arrangement, until we returned from the UK in January, after Samantha's wedding. We were confident that our Australian adventure in Queensland would continue and were excited to establish our new five-year plan, in consultation with the children, during our visit to the UK, when all the children would, finally, be together with us in the same place, at the same time.
