Topic > Living the Aboriginal Way - 869

Aboriginal people are one of the few remaining indigenous peoples in our world. Aboriginal people live in Australia and, like many indigenous peoples/groups, have been treated poorly for years. However now they are treated better than before, but being an old group with ancient traditions it is difficult to live in the same world as people who do not live according to their culture. First in this article Aboriginal history will be compared to the present, followed by/first a description of two issues facing the indigenous people of Australia in the present and finally there will be a conclusion. Aboriginal people arrived in Australia from Asia around 50,000 years ago, however they migrated from Africa to Asia around 70,000 years ago. Aboriginal people are the indigenous people of Australia. They were the only people living on the continent until colonization in 1788 by the United Kingdom. The biggest consequence of this colonization is that the English brought with them diseases such as measles, tuberculosis and smallpox. In the 19th century, smallpox was the leading cause of death of Aboriginal people. Aboriginal people primarily speak English, but have a variety of their own language which they speak in phrases and words to create an Aboriginal English language. Before the English settled in Australia, Aboriginal people knew more than 250 languages, while today they speak around 15. They traditionally believed in animistic spiritual structures, compared to the present time where only 1% still believe in animism and 73 % in Christianity. The animist spiritual structure includes belief in animals, Mother Nature and have a deep love for nature. However we now see that Indigenous Australian culture has changed. Aboriginal worship...... middle of paper ...... f domestic violence and community disorder. Since then indigenous Australians have unfortunately had a lot to deal with since the first European settlement in 1788, such as disease, colonization and estrangement from their families. Aboriginal people are not allowed to live as before, as new laws have been created for the people. Aboriginal people are forced to live like any other Australian in Australia, although they are sometimes treated differently. Some people believe that these people have been treated poorly over the years, and many agree with this. For a long time Aboriginal people were treated essentially like animals. It was their country, but they were still treated like they were bad people. Aboriginal people now have a lot to deal with, such as education and crime, but the Australian people do their best to help these people overcome all difficulties.
