One similarity between my journey and Odysseus' journey is that I have not faced my battles alone. Odysseus received help along the way from deities such as Athena who helped Telemachus regain hope that his father was still alive, helped Telemachus find a crew, and aided in meeting King Alcinous (The Odyssey p.86 and book 6) . My family has been with me through all the good and bad situations in my life, they are like the Athena in my life. They helped me as much as they could and sometimes I fail to see how much they do for me, just as Odysseus didn't notice how Athena had helped him along the way. However, when I realize that I have been helped, I try to show my gratitude. My way of showing gratitude is very different from that of books. Instead of sacrificing animals, I try to do something like cooking for my family or cooking for them. My friends would be like the crew of the Odyssey. They were also with me and we experienced many things together in life. We have a bond that could never be broken, like the one between crew members. However, Odysseus's wasn't there from the beginning and didn't make it to the end with Ulysses. I have accepted the fact that friendships are sometimes temporary, so you have to overcome the bad times and enjoy the good ones with friends because you never know when a friendship could
