The purpose of this work is to write a presentation of the healthcare system in three countries. One of the countries must be Finland, one must be a developing country and the other must be a developed country. Besides Finland, I want to give a presentation on Guyana (developing country) and England (developed country). The reason I chose these countries for my presentation is that they have a slightly different healthcare system than Finland. I also have a personal interest in Guyana and its healthcare system. I personally know someone who is from Guyana and I want to familiarize myself with their culture and healthcare system. Another country I chose for my presentation was England. The reason I chose England is that I don't know the healthcare system they use at all. Guyana is located near Venezuela, Suriname and Brazil and the country belongs to North America. People in Guyana speak English, which is why it is a North American country. The Caribbean community and Guyana are very close to each other. Guyana's governance operates according to democratic principles. The Westminster system of government is almost tied to the Guyana system of government. The Government of Guyana is made up of administrative regions (10 pieces) and local government. The local government is divided into Amerindian village councils (76 pieces), municipalities (6 pieces), neighborhood democratic councils (65 pieces) and regional democratic councils (10 pieces). Abundant natural resources (including fertile and productive soil, water resources provided by numerous rivers) are very important to Guyana's economy. (WHO, National Cooperation Strategy.) England is located in the United Kingdom. In England the government is based on constitutional monarchy. Engl......middle paper......and diseases) but in Guyana they also have many public health concerns that are not present in Finland or England, at least to the same extent. These concerns include HIV/AIDS, malaria, sanitation and water solutions. (Health in the Americans 2007, 406.) One big difference I found is the 5 tier healthcare system in Guyana, in England and Finland we have a primary and secondary healthcare system. The biggest difference I found is that there is no national health insurance system in Guyana. In Finland and England we have some sort of national health insurance. Instead of national health insurance they have the national insurance system which runs a social insurance program for employees. Membership of the Plan is mandatory for employees aged between 16 and 60, including self-employed workers. (Health in Americans 2007, 406.)
