A similar definition stated by Smith is that it is a “process of accompanying students, of caring for them and of them, and of bringing learning to life” (2 ). During Smith's reading and Rodrigues' lecture, the audience gained knowledge of the early Greek pedagogical system in which students, predominantly boys, were assigned a pedagogue. This pedagogue was a slave, who taught the ways of being a man outside the confines of the classroom and taught more life lessons. Although our education system is different in the current era, we can also connect this term to people outside of the classroom; to the people on the bus teaching us manners or an old friend teaching us appreciation. The lesson is that we always learn from others. So, I think Rodrigues' definition definitely fits strangers, friends and family who we can consider pedagogues if they meet the criteria of respect, understanding and listening. That said, how can we create the same type of learning environment within school boundaries without the education feeling forced, and what exact principles are needed to be considered a school
