In 1979, "...it is not unusual for a student, even if working part-time in college and full-time during the summer, to accumulate $5,000 in loans after four years- loans that he will have to start repaying within a year of graduation” (13). This is something that the student will carry in their mind while studying. They will never be sure what they will have to do to repay everything to parental pressure. “Parents have good intentions; they are trying to direct their sons and daughters towards a secure future” (20 ) This puts a strain on students and makes it harder for them to actually enjoy going to class every day.After that, though, there are two different types of pressure that students themselves cause peers “I had a freshman student who I'll call Linda, who came in and said she was under terrible pressure because her roommate, Barbara, was much brighter and studied all the time. I couldn't tell her that Barbara had come two hours earlier to say the same thing as Linda” (24). This competitiveness that students feel to push themselves is caused by peer pressure. This will cause tons of unnecessary stress that will affect everything
