The subjects I excelled in were math and science. Ever since I was a teenager, I have always had a keen sense of numbers. This has undoubtedly helped a lot with the variety of science lessons that utilize math skills. Science, however, is undoubtedly the subject in which I excel the most, and for this I have my extraordinary great-grandmother to thank. When I was eight years old, I discovered that my great-grandmother had cancer that was gradually making her health worse. Eventually the cancer had spread to his legs and within a year he had suffered a double amputation. Being so close to my great-grandmother, this hit me hard, but I didn't feel any pain because I knew she was a strong woman and, being naive at that age, I hadn't thought that this event had really changed her. She was still the same loving, caring, nurturing great-grandmother I had known all my life. It wasn't until one day, while I was spending the night at my great-grandmother's house, that I heard something extraordinary. I heard my great-grandmother moan.
