Topic > Intellectual property and the methods behind it

Intellectual property is “a legal concept that refers to creations of the mind for which exclusive rights are recognized. Under intellectual property law, owners are granted certain exclusive rights to a variety of intangible assets, such as musical, literary, and artistic works; discoveries and inventions; and words, phrases, symbols and drawings. ”In simple words it is something done by you, self-creation, some examples include music, videos, images and more. With the creation of new material there are also rights (how/where it can be used). The author owns the rights and using the material without his permission could land you in court or pay a heavy fine. With advanced computer technology it is easy to see if someone has copied your material. With so many copyright problems in recent years a new law has been released, the law is called Intellectual Property Law [1]. This law is used to maintain a balance in how the material can be used. This law can only be enforced if the owner agrees to give others some rights to their product. There are many ways creators can ensure they have all the rights to their product. The first method is patent protection, another way is copyright protection, and the last way to obtain rights is trade secret protection. The first method is the most used because it is the safest method for obtaining rights. That's why I will focus on this method. The first method called patent protection is the most used method to have secure rights to your material [1]. A creator can obtain a patent for their material if they can provide 17 years of market exclusivity. Many creators use this method because it is the best and safest form of protection available for a...... medium......content is wholly owned or used with proper authorization.¬The team at BroadbandTV [3] Copyright on such small things as unboxing is excessive in my opinion. I think these changes will only lead to the suspension of YouTubers who tend to cover songs or re-upload other people's videos. If you didn't create it, keep it off the Internet. After hearing my opinion, if you disagree with me, comment below what you think about intellectual property. Is it okay for the creator to have rights to small materials? Do you think the increased impact of copyright on YouTube is positive or vice versa?
