Topic > Health systems in Finland, Democratic Republic of...

To select countries for this task I looked for different criteria for the development of nations. For me, I found the most reliable and suitable ones at the Specialized Agencies of the United Nations, such as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank Group and of course the WHO. My selections for this task are, in addition to Finland, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (later DRC) and Turkey. The DRC had the lowest GNI in the world in 2012 at USD 220 per capita and in 2000 it was USD 90 per capita. . In 2012, GNI in Turkey was USD 10,830 per capita and in Finland USD 46,940 per capita, the highest recorded value was USD 98,860 in Norway. (World Bank 2013.) I chose Turkey for this task because the country is applying for membership in the European Union and is a very large country on the border between Europe and Asia. There are many international migrants and also asylum seekers in Türkiye from Asia and currently from the Syrian crisis. The most interesting comparisons or classifications I found were the Human Development Index (HDI) and derived from that the Inequality-Adjusted Human Development Index (IHDI). Both reports are part of the Human Development Report, the aim of which is to stimulate global, regional and national political discussion on issues relevant to human development. (UNDP 2013a, UNDP 2013b.) My objective in this assignment is to describe the healthcare system of selected countries. I also try to estimate what the effect of the country's overall level of development is on the healthcare system.2 DESCRIBING THE LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT The criterion commonly used to evaluate the economic level of a nation is the gross national income (GNI). GNI is converted into US dollars and is the sum of resident producers and income from abroad. (World Bank 2013a.) The GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate is often us...... middle of paper ...... for Turkey could be in the future migration to Turkey and asylum seekers . Finland's problem and the challenge in health services is how to reorganize them more effectively. I feel that more money is not needed, the question is how to use it. The discussion is currently at the state level. During this course I got a good feeling about the work of the United Nations and its subsidiary bodies, funds, foundations and specialized agencies, they are doing extremely important work together with governments and NGOs. They are not so much. As far as corporate CSR is concerned, the DRC is rich in minerals needed in many electronic devices, for example in mobile phones and military devices. There are many video clips on You Tube, from which you can express your opinion on CSR and get an overall picture of the conditions in the DRC. Here is an example of conflict minerals, rebels and child soldiers in Congo.
