There are many paintings that are really famous, but the artist is dead and the paintings are lived by far by painters for many years, like hundreds of years. Some of these paintings can show us what it was like to live when they were alive and give us the story of how things might have looked. One type of painting that I think is the most fascinating is the one that the Indians drew in caves. There has been much debate about the meaning of the images on the cave walls. The paintings tell of their lives and the ways they did things, the things they hunted and the different ways they may have believed. The images made us think about their culture and what different animals they were sacred and animals they hunted. Rome also made sculptures of the gods they believe in and who thought about what they did for their beliefs and also the old building has conveyed to us a lot of what they did and their culture. Old works of art show us what the culture was like in the times that group of people lived in
