The book “Forgotten Fire” was written by Adam Bagdasarian as a piece of historical fiction. Even though this book is not non-fiction, it is still based on true events related to the Armenian Genocide. Vahan is a 12-year-old boy who lives in Bitlis, Turkey. Vahan lives a privileged life as the youngest son of a wealthy family. Being the youngest son he has 3 brothers named Diran, Tavel and Sisak. He also has 2 sisters named Oskina and Armenouhi. This story is based on a true story about the Armenian Genocide from the Vahan Kenderian point of view. Throughout the story Vahan constantly loses friends and family as he runs from the gendarmes for his life. The Armenian Genocide was led by Türkiye, starting in 1923 and lasting 8 years. The Turkish government killed one and a half million Armenians during the 8-year process. This is an essay about Vahan Kenderian's story before, during and after the Armenian Genocide and how it changed his life.
