Effective Teams When building a team, the most important ingredient is people. If the team is to function effectively, all the necessary skills and experience should be present and people should have the authority to act on their own. When a team starts working, they will need time and structure to begin their development and agree how they will operate. The team's purpose must be clearly stated and written in a document or manual. The type of team in the simulation is a cross-functional task force. I chose the Cross Functional Team because it will be a group of people working towards a common goal and composed of people with different functional skills. Matching the top five candidates based on the roles they would fill wasn't difficult at all. I first read each candidate's background and personal interests. I decided that Petra Diodorus would be suitable for the role of Linker and Producer because she is a good verbal communicator and effective communication methods are needed for the team. If there are bad communicators on the team, many team members will be left in the dark, confused, and misunderstood. John Marsh will be a great creator. John's background information supports his awareness of being creative. He has 15 years of experience in automotive development and production management. He also enjoys sharing his knowledge with others, so he will be a great team member to work with. I chose Maria de Grassa because I felt she was more interested in the human resources department and making sure she hired the right employees to work at Luxurion Auto. I chose Amrita Choudhury for the role of Evaluator and Consultant and realized that she would be better for the role of Creator because of her being six… halfway through the document… the right individual for a specific role. The team had faith in each other as the project turned out to be a success. Everyone believed they could succeed and they did. They had team effectiveness. The selected team also worked together and achieved their goal. Building and maintaining effective teams is a delicate and time-consuming process in business, and if done well, teams can overcontribute and improve productivity and reduce costs.
