The darkness loomed over me, the few remaining stars twinkled sporadically, as if the void was extinguishing them. I said goodbye to my friends at the comic book store, my usual Thursday night stop. I grabbed my bike and started pedaling, energizing myself for the arduous journey home. Before long I entered the labyrinthine development aptly named “Fireside”. I pedaled at a carefree pace, after all I had done this route at least once a week. On top of that, York, Penn., is the most boring city ever... what could possibly happen? I continued pedaling nonchalantly, until suddenly a harsh voice shouted: "Hey you!... Come here!" "I don't know. Don't talk to strangers." I replied, sarcasm dripping from my lips. Being a precautionary individual, I began pedaling at a slightly increased pace. However, I didn't feel in real danger until the car passed me, brushing my arm. An excessive scream erupted from the car as it stopped at the stop sign. Then, to my horror, the white lights at the back of the car came on… the car was reversing. Sweat began to pour out of my body, as my heart beat to pump blood at an accelerated rate. The chase had begun. Pedaling my bike, I swerved left and right, dodging all sorts of trash that littered the desolate ground beneath my feet. The car gained ground quickly; his ebony face stares at me like a demon spawned from hell. A cold, clammy hand seemed to wrap around my body. I knew I couldn't escape. The car's V-8 engine roared as the driver slammed the pedal to the floor. An evil smile tugged at his lips. In his mind it was all over. Unable to accept the idea of being in a car accident, I did the only thing I could… I twisted the handlebars of my bike with all my might, veered off the road and ended up in a nearby yard. A sign of relief escaped my lips. I was homeless, until I noticed the bushes heading towards me at an alarming speed. I slammed on the brakes... too late. The bike slipped into the foliage, my body was attacked from all sides by the evil plant. Darkness washed over me briefly as my limbs did their work. I finally broke through the wall of thorns and entered the nearby courtyard. I stood there for a few minutes, the cold ground soothing the pain that resonated throughout my body as the blood flowed profusely..
