The poem "since feeling is first" is written by EE Cummings in a stanza form with a total number of 16 lines. Sentences contain no more than nine words and no fewer than four words. It is about a man who expresses his love to his beloved women. Cummings uses literary devices such as; metaphor, personification, image and denotation to express his feelings. “For Feeling Comes First” is a romantic poem that teaches a lesson about life. His use of literary devices makes the poem attractive to readers. “For feeling is first” is a free verse poem and the speaker is a specific character who is the first person. The character created by Cumming is a man deeply in love. This poem has sixteen lines in total and is structured in stanza form. Stanzas are grouped together with syntax errors. There is no proper punctuation that confuses the reader into pausing and there is enjambement; where the lines stop after the completion of the thought. For example, stanza one contains four lines, and those four lines do not have the correct punctuation. To make sense of that verse, it should be read together. The author made this syntax error on purpose because he compares life to a paragraph (line 15). It was meant to demonstrate that life is not structured like a paragraph. Life does not have the logical order contained in the paragraph. The speaker of this poem is a man in love and believes that there is nothing better. The speaker's tone is romantic and constructive. Literally, the speaker is in love and thinks that nothing is greater than love. There is nothing that can come between love. Figuratively speaking, the poem is about people who forget to realize the big things in life because they pay attention to trivial things and tend to miss a little...half of the paper...you can say that death is something useless to think about in life. If we think about death, we frown and forget to have fun. Death is a phase we will all encounter, so don't think about it. Regarding images, one could say that thoughts are less important than feelings. If we reflect on thoughts we tend to disregard the feeling that is most important in life. If we reason with the thoughts that are produced, the feelings will be ignored and something that gives meaning to life will be thrown away. This could be said as an irony in today's world. In today's world people reason about everything that happens in their lives. They pay attention to minor details thinking that it will improve their life and at the same time they will miss something important. This loss is not realized until a tragedy occurs and the realization of mistakes occurs.
