This is very important when talking about the means of production that the bourgeoisie owns. The proletarians, or the lower ones, have to work for the bourgeoisie, which causes a lot of social stratification. So due to globalization the bourgeoisie must recreate and change the means of production, and if it does not do so it will lose everything and then it will become proletarian and will have to work for the new bourgeoisie. Furthermore, when the bourgeoisie changes the means of production, it also changes social norms and functions. How can this happen without them revolutionizing the system? It can't be. All the points that Levine and Gilbert made about Marx's ideas are all relevant. In today's society there are different classes, they might be based on more than economics, but wealth and money dictate a lot about someone's place. Marx's initial ideas have now been expanded, but Marx's basic ideas are what all sociologists studying social stratification must understand. Marx is right in his statement because society has changed a lot since the Stone Age and the Middle Ages. We have laptops, cell phones and really advanced gadgets. Not all countries have the same technology as the United States and still survive. This clearly shows how important change is
