'Stopping by woods on a snowy evening' is considered a masterpiece as it was written in 1922 and published a year later. This poem certainly represents Frost's ability to provide us with powerful hidden meanings, which also challenge us to discover his true intentions behind the main theme. This criticism will be based on several aspects that deserve to be discussed: contrast between concepts, symbols, moods, author's purpose, context of the poem. Furthermore, it will distribute my personal opinion and feelings based on my understanding and interpretation of Frost's artwork. From a structural point of view, this poem is composed of four (almost) identical stanzas. I feel that the simplicity of the poem itself demonstrates Frost's genuine ability to create such a modest masterpiece that contains unique emotions that go beyond the paper. Even though this poem is very short and flowing, it takes longer to analyze than to read.
