The fear of technology controlling people's lives is clearly evident. Technology such as computers and gaming consoles are believed to be the bane of humanity. “In the old days you could walk around the city for a whole day without seeing everyone you knew. Now, everyone you know is within reach, taking away that certain psychological feeling from seeing people” (nables, n/a). It's true that technology often places an invisible border between reality and the digital world. But the individual is responsible for his own life since it is not the fault of the technology that leads to his death. Some people point out that technology is taking away traditional life, such as writing on a sheet of paper and reading a book. Many people prefer reading a post on social media (Facebook) rather than reading a newspaper. “Students have always faced distractions and wasted time. But computers and cell phones, and the constant flow of stimuli they offer, pose a profound new challenge to concentration and learning” (Richtel, 2010, p. 1). Of course, technologies can pose a threat to cognitive learning. However, there are preventative measures such as limiting technology use during and immediately after school
