There are issues that conflict with each other, causing some individuals to lose their self-esteem and rights. For example, a person who, having an Asian cultural background, would be unable to practice the Christian religion due to that culture's beliefs. This can become a problem because some may want to, but how will their culture view them and whether they will be able to continue living that lifestyle. Different countries have had different interpretations of which of these rights are important since the Universal Declaration was first adopted by the United Nations in 1948. Nations have chosen to ignore some or many of the rights set forth or to place some rights above others.
