Hip hop music is more than just a couple of words that rhyme together; it is a culture, its spiritual movement that has helped people in various ways. The place where it originated is mainly among the young African Americans of the Bronx, New York. Bronx DJs isolated percussive breaks in popular songs, and those musical genres were typically funk, disco, and soul records. Because these genres were relatively short, DJs used turntables to extend and mix beats which eventually formed a new genre of music known as hip hop. The father of hip pop was known as DJ Kool Herc, but other people might say that Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five were the ones to do it because of their success with hip pop music. That group of artists were the first to truly express hip hop and rap music to the world and they were the ones who made hip hop known around the world. When hip hop revolutionized and began to expand, rap music came into play and that was how rap music and the rap artist began to introduce themselves to the world. Those low-income areas were the heart and soul of the city and helped bring motivation and hope to the people. As many would say: “Hip hop music in its infancy was described as an outlet and a “voice” for disenfranchised youth from low-income areas, as the culture reflected the social, economic, and political realities of their lives” "Hip Hop Music." Rap music, and rapping is also known as emceeing, is a vocal style of music in which the artist speaks lyrically in rhyme over an instrumental or synthesized beat. The roots of rap also come from African-American culture that was formed from jazz poetry. What started this type of poetry was… middle of paper… the days when the most popular musical styles are multi-genre songs. This is where creativity comes in. As the generation of rap artists experiments and invents new styles of music that appeal to their audiences, it gives them something "new" to listen to. Scientists actually conducted a study on the mind of a rap artist by testing their brain activity while performing freestyles. One of the scientists named Braun concluded by stating that "We think what we see is a relaxation of 'executive functions' to allow for more natural, defocused attention and uncensored processes that might be the hallmark of creativity" Briggs, Amy. “Brains Got Game: The Incredible Minds of Freestyle Rappers.” Watch the news.
