As stated on the China Daily website in the article, “Sino-American diplomatic ties have been established,” it is described: “This is marking a point historic turning point in bilateral relations. From then on, Sino-US relations have entered a new phase." This phase has developed into a bilateral relationship for trade, culture, education and military affairs. From the Chinese town hall meeting I learned how important it is for both leaders of each country to maintain good relations with each other, as these diplomatic relations must be maintained. In the late 1970s a huge policy was implemented; this is the one child policy. We learned that this policy limited the number of children families could have to help increase economic growth. The policy allowed more money to be invested in economic growth and industrialization in China. The Open Door Policy was one of the major changes in transforming China into a global economy. This policy was introduced in China in the late 1980s; its purpose was to keep China open to trade with other countries. The policy has really influenced China to grow and expand its foreign investment and become a more global country. Now everywhere you go there is usually a Chinese person
