Going to the nursing home every morning and being assigned to different residents every day was a really great experience for me. As a CNA, I have come across many situations that have changed me personally. One day I have the opportunity to serve a lady who suffered greatly from hemorrhoids. While CNA and I were bathing her, her bed turned into a sea of blood just by turning her slightly. While we waited for the Navy to arrive, there was only one thing I thought of doing. I just held her hand and started assuring her that she will be fine soon. Honestly, I never imagined what a gentle word or touch could do. Some patients may need medicine to heal, but everyone definitely needs a comforting touch and a kind word. Showing compassion towards patients is one of my qualities for the future
