How people have an interest in many different topics. When people are interested in a certain topic, they go out of their way to find out as much as they can about the topic. In The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Anne Fadiman has an interest in the Hmong people. He expanded his knowledge about them because he wanted to. And from Fadiman who wants to know more I in turn know more. He discovered the information and released it so others could also gain knowledge about the Hmong. Fadiman doesn't know everything about the Hmong but he has a deeper understanding of how they live and why they believe what they believe. In Guns, Germs and Steel, Jared Diamond had a great interest in the story. Because of his interest he researched pretty much everything he could to get a better understanding. He has knowledge of how civilization began and progressed. After reading this book I have a deeper understanding of why the world is the way it is
