Post-secondary education has become the necessary gateway for young adults to enter skilled white-collar careers, with even some unskilled workers now requiring at least a two-year college degree, the need to have access to annual post-secondary raises. However, access to education has become a gateway to sometimes overwhelming student debt after graduation, which can take a lifetime to repay; even hindering the ability to achieve things like home ownership, the ability to access credit to start a small business or, in extreme cases, afford to leave the parental home.
