[tabby title="Bite"]Body horror films are a type of film that do their best to disgust you, whether through teleportation accidents (The Fly), or having sex with a man who has sex with dead people (Contraction). Bite is a body horror film that manages to stun the viewer, providing many exceptional practical effects. The film isn't bad, but it's restrictive in plot, keeping the main character and story confined to one set (an apartment), with only a few people involved. Bite is a low-budget Canadian horror film released in limited theaters, on demand and digitally on May 6 by Scream Factory. As for the film itself, it won't impress everyone, but I think if you give it a chance, you'll come away liking it. The film opens with the dreaded Found Footage style of lazy man cinema. I groaned out loud when I saw it, but luckily after the opening scene of the movie, it switches to the normal shooting style (i.e., the non-lazy way). Bite follows Casey (Elma Begovic) as she gets bitten on the butt by a mysterious bug, during her bachelorette trip to the tropics. When he gets home, he notices the bite is getting worse. As with all other body horror films, Casey foolishly decides to shrug it off and not go to the doctor. As the days go by, it starts to get worse and worse, eventually - and arguably the best scenes of the film - regurgitating pearly-looking eggs in abundance. Bite is a fairly simple film, with only a few people and very limited scenes. Obviously, this is due to the size of the budget, but it hurts the film a bit. Some viewers will feel cheated when they realize that not much actually happens. There are a total of about five characters in the film and not much character development is done on them, even Elma Begovic's character is paper thin for the most part. Also, don't expect the movie to explain what bit her and why all this is happening. However, if gross and disgusting scenes are what you want, you'll be very happy with Bite. It seems like most of the budget was spent on the practical effects and they all work quite well
