This especially affects people who come from disadvantaged circumstances, who enter hospitals and clinics virtually helpless and simply seek treatment. With the understanding that these people lack the ability to challenge their authority in their field of work, both doctors and health insurance companies have the final say in the health care that people with low socioeconomic status receive. Michael Moore, in his documentary Sicko, describes the cruel realities of medicine and the inadequate treatments people receive every day through the perspective of patients. One of her interviewees discussed how she had been covered by Blue Cross health insurance until she discovered she had a yeast infection and needed medical care, forcing the insurance company to quickly drop her enrollment. Another interviewee spoke about her husband's death caused by the health insurance company denying the family funds to perform a bone marrow transplant. Moore also described how long it took a woman to tell the right lies and illegally take advantage of the Canadian healthcare system, where all citizens receive free healthcare whenever they need it. Overall, these insurance companies try to limit their services in an attempt to save money, putting their own interests before those of the people who choose them
